Rosacea and Redness
A common skin disease, rosacea begins with a tendency to flush color or blush more easily than other people. Over time, the redness associated with rosacea spreads beyond the cheeks and nose to the rest of the face and even the neck. Rosacea can cause more than just redness; there are four subtypes of the rosacea condition:
- Phymatous rosacea: A bumpy skin texture and thickening of skin
- Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea: Redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels
- Papulopustular rosacea: Acne-like breakouts coupled with swelling
- Ocular rosacea: Irritation of eyes and swelling of the eyelids
- Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that can impact a person’s quality of life. Although there is no cure for rosacea, symptoms like redness and breakouts can be decreased with a visit to our experienced dermatologists at Ogden Clinic.
- Topical medication or emollients to help clear redness and repair the skin
- V-Beam Perfecta® laser therapy
- Dermabrasion to remove thickened skin
- Oral medication such as antibiotics
Learning what triggers rosacea is one of the most effective ways to manage the disorder. With help from an Ogden Clinic dermatologist, these rosacea triggers can be identified and a skincare plan can be developed to address your unique condition.
